Over the years, the common interests and mutual problems of retail research executives clearly demonstrated the need for an open forum where subjects of concern could be discussed. Thus, the Retail Research Society was founded in 1965 as an independent professional organization for the purpose of discussing current research studies, research techniques and emerging trends in the industry.

In 1987, the Board of Directors decided to expand the purely research role of the Society to cover issues of greater significance to the industry as a whole. To reflect this expanded focus, the name of the organization was changed to the Retail Marketing Society. It is incorporated under the Not-for-Profit Corporation Law of New York State.

Membership Benefits:

Monthly Meetings - The Retail Marketing Society is the only organization that addresses the current issues and trends affecting the retail industry on a monthly basis. Guest speakers cover topics of immediate interest to the retail community, such as merchandising trends, emerging technologies, image marketing, consumer trends, real estate development, employee recruiting and training, as well as corporate activities, policies and programs.

Member Discounts and Report - As a Retail Marketing Society member, you will receive a "Members-Only" summary report of our meetings (issued at the discretion of the speaker) and discounted rates for meeting attendance.

Membership Directory - A complete Membership Directory is sent annually to all members. Updated throughout the year, the Directory lists all members, their company affiliations and contact information to help you build a network of retail executives who share your professional interests and future goals.

Networking - Retail Marketing Society membership provides you with the opportunity to build a network of retail executives who share your professional interests and goals. Our monthly meetings are structured so that you have a chance to meet other professionals in related fields. And our offices will be glad to assist you with your networking concerns.
